Privacy Policy

The short version

• We don’t sell your personal data, and there are no ads on Carrerlift.
• You can browse without an account.
• A résumé PDF you upload is read and not kept.
• You can ask us to delete your data at any time: contactcarrerlift@gmail.com.

1. When you visit

We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used: pages viewed, the site that sent you, your device and browser, and approximate location from your IP address. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this.

Some things are kept only in your browser, and we can’t see them: jobs you save, the résumé text you last used (so you don’t have to upload it again), your light or dark theme, the start time of the 15-minute preview for signed-out visitors, and your Google sign-in session. Clearing this website’s data in your browser removes all of it.

2. When you sign in

Sign-in is with Google, through Google Firebase. We receive your name, email address, profile photo and an account ID. We never see your Google password.

3. Your profile

If you fill in your profile, we store your name, college, degree, graduation year, headline, location and skills, linked to your account. If you upload a photo, it is stored at a public web address so it can be shown on the site.

4. Your résumé

• Reading a PDF: the file is sent to our server only to extract its text. The file is not saved.
• Matching: the résumé text is sent to Google Gemini to turn it into numbers that can be compared with job listings. We keep those numbers for up to 30 days, filed under a one-way fingerprint of the text, so the same résumé is quick to match again. The text itself is not stored on our servers.
• Skill-gap reports: the résumé and the job are sent to an AI model (Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude if Gemini is unavailable). The report is kept for up to 30 days so the same request gets the same answer.
• Profile autofill: the text is sent to the same AI models to pick out your name, college, degree and skills. Nothing is saved until you check it and press save.
• Email drafts: the details of the job or contact and what you give the draft feature are sent to an AI model to write a draft. Drafts are not stored.

5. Recruiters

A recruiter account stores your name, designation, company, company website, LinkedIn link, email address, company logo and the jobs you post. After approval, your name, designation, company, logo, website and LinkedIn link are shown on your listings. We email you about your account, for example when it is approved.

6. Job alerts and emails to us

If you sign up for job alerts, we store the email address, name and skills you enter. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply.

7. Contacts we list

The research and HR sections list professional details gathered from public sources: professors’ names, institutes, departments, research areas and official email addresses, and recruiters’ names, job titles, companies and LinkedIn links. If you are listed and want to be removed or corrected, email contactcarrerlift@gmail.com.

8. How we use this

• To run the features you use: listings, matching, skill gap, profile and drafts.
• To review recruiters and keep listings genuine.
• To send emails you would expect, such as account approval or alerts you asked for.
• To see how the site is used and improve it, and to prevent abuse.

9. Services that handle data for us

Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage), Google Firebase (sign-in), Google Analytics (usage statistics), Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude (AI features) and Resend (email delivery). Some of them run servers outside India, so your data may be processed abroad. They process it to provide their service to us.

10. How long we keep it

• Profile and recruiter details: until you ask us to delete them.
• AI results for matching and skill gap: up to 30 days.
• Analytics: as long as Google Analytics retains it under our settings.
• Data in your browser: until you clear it.

11. Your choices

• Edit your details or remove your photo on your profile.
• Clear the stored résumé with Clear on Match, or clear this website’s data in your browser.
• Block cookies in your browser, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.
• To see, correct or delete the data linked to your account, email contactcarrerlift@gmail.com from that account’s address.

12. Age

Carrerlift is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian’s permission.

13. Security

The website is served over HTTPS, and our database is reachable only from our own server code. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your data.

14. Changes and contact

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. For any question or complaint about your data, write to contactcarrerlift@gmail.com.
