Our Goals
At Farcast, we aim to improve global prosperity. We achieve this goal by building innovative products that enable access to information. Satellite internet is one of the most important ways to achieve this goal and to provide global connectivity coverage. However, the capacity of satellite internet services is limited by the quality and affordability of the devices consumers use to connect to satellites. These devices are called “user terminals”. Our mission is to bring unprecedented innovation to the user terminal industry.
We believe our innovation will be key in making satellite internet accessible to everyone. Please join us if your goals align with ours!
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team developing next-generation phased array antennas for satellite communications. This is a hands-on role involving the design, schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and testing of high-density electronics. Depending on your background and interests, you may work on RF, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics, contributing to everything from antenna circuitry to control and interface boards. We have opportunities across multiple engineering teams and will match candidates with roles that best align with their skills and interests. You will work closely with experienced engineers across RF, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines, gaining exposure to the full product development cycle from initial design through production.
Responsibilities
- Design schematics and PCB layouts for RF, mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics, depending on areas of expertise.
- Contribute to component selection and engineering design decisions, considering electrical performance, power consumption, thermal constraints, and cost.
- Support PCB/PCBA fabrication, assembly, and bring-up, working with internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
- Develop and execute test plans, using laboratory equipment to validate circuit performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve designs.
- Collaborate with RF, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to integrate electronics into complete antenna systems.
- Support design verification, reliability testing, and the transition of products from prototype to production.
Required Experience
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, OrCAD, Allegro, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of analog, digital, RF, or power electronics, with hands-on experience in at least one of these areas.
- Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, transmission lines, and basic PCB design principles.
- Hands-on experience with electronic circuit testing, debugging, and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
- Basic understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience designing and laying out high-density PCBs, including HDI technology and fine-pitch BGA components.
- Familiarity with RF design principles, transmission lines, impedance matching, and RF PCB layout.
- Experience with high-speed digital interfaces, signal integrity, or power management circuitry.
- Hands-on experience testing RF systems, active antenna modules, or phased arrays.
- Familiarity with PCB manufacturing, DFM/DFT, and transitioning electronics from prototype to production.
- Experience with GNSS/INS systems, including antennas and associated electronics.
- Experience developing electronics for high-reliability applications, including aerospace, aviation, or automotive systems.
Base Salary
- Final compensation package will include a competitive base salary, meaningful company stock options, and a comprehensive package of cash and non-cash benefits. The final package will be tailored to the candidate’s experience, impact, and role scope.
- Base Salary Range:
Offered Benefits
- Meaningful company stock ownership
- Unlimited PTO plus 20+ days of company shutdown
- Parental leave designed by parents for parents
- 401k with 5% company matching
- $13,600 in annual perks (wellness, commute, and meals)
- Individualized health, dental, and vision insurance plans for you and your family
In-Person Requirement
- All employees are expected to be at the office, in person, for a minimum of two days per week
Export Control Requirement
- To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, all applicants and employees must hold U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
Diversity and Inclusion
- Farcast is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace
- We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees
- We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or other applicable legally protected characteristics
- We encourage people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives to apply. Studies have shown that marginalized communities are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to consider still applying.
