Position: Special Projects Developer Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: New York, NY

Firm Overview:

Walleye Capital is a ~$17 billion+ multi-strategy investment firm headquartered in New York City, with over 350 employees across five main offices. Founded in 2005 as an options market maker, we have organically grown into a global investment firm specializing in Fundamental Equities, Quant, and Volatility strategies.

At Walleye, we continuously innovate by focusing on three core principles: approach, platform, and people. Our approach is to allocate risk capital where we believe there is not only a compelling opportunity, but also a clear ability to define our tangible edge. We seek to leverage the mathematical benefits of diversification while utilizing sophisticated infrastructure, technology, and our balance sheet to do so in a structurally advantageous way. Our platform, developed over two decades, is central to our operations, evolving alongside business complexities and technological advancements to support our team’s success. Our people are our greatest asset, and we’ve cultivated an environment that attracts top talent by balancing autonomy with collaboration, and intelligence with integrity.

Position Overview:

Walleye Capital is seeking Special Projects Developer Interns for Summer 2027. In this role, you’ll work alongside a dynamic team and partner with senior leadership to advance high-impact strategic initiatives that fall outside of the core operations of the hedge fund. You’ll help translate business needs and prototypes into practical, technology-enabled solutions, including building internal AI-native tools, custom agents that streamline workflows, and management-facing reporting that improves business visibility. This internship offers meaningful hands-on development experience, exposure to high-priority projects, and direct mentorship.

The internship is 10 weeks in length and will take place in New York City from June to August 2027.

Responsibilities:

Support the team in translating high-level strategic objectives into structured project plans and executable workflows.
Contribute to greenfield projects throughout the development lifecycle, including research, scoping, prototyping, testing, and implementation.
Build and enhance internal AI-native tools, user-facing applications, automations, and processes.
Act as an internal technological consultant/liaison to teams across the firm to understand business needs, gather domain expertise, and help advance cross-functional initiatives.
Potential to contribute to executive-facing technology solutions.

We seek individuals who:

Are pursuing an undergraduate or non-MBA master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
Showcase excellent communication and problem-solving skills, an ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical audiences, intellectual curiosity, and comfort working through ambiguous problems.
Are a proactive self-starter with demonstrated leadership ability, strong ownership mentality, and the initiative to move projects forward independently.
Demonstrate exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with a strong foundation in programming (specifically Python) and a passion for technological innovation; familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and API development is a plus.
Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, drive efficiency, and improve workflows; hold experience integrating AI services, including LLMs or APIs, into academic, research, internship, or personal projects.
Have a genuine interest in the hedge fund industry and how high-performing organizations operate, with previous internship, research, or project experience in financial services, technology, or another fast-paced environment.

Pay Range:

The expected monthly pay for this position is $14,000/month. Interns will also receive a competitive signing bonus and transportation to and from New York City (domestic travel only).
