Cyber Security Engineer

About the role: - Develop and maintain security infrastructure to protect organisational systems and data - Conduct security testing, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing activities - Monitor systems for security incidents and respond to threats when they occur - Document security findings, remediation steps, and best practices for the team - Collaborate with engineering and development teams to integrate security into applications and infrastructure What you'll work on: - Network security implementation, configuration of firewalls and VPNs - Application security reviews and secure coding guidance - Vulnerability identification using industry-standard tools like Burp Suite, Nmap, and Wireshark - Authentication, authorisation, and access control system design - Logging, monitoring, and SIEM configuration for threat detection - Incident response procedures and security event investigation - Cloud security across platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP What we're looking for: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field - Strong grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals, security principles, and industry best practices - Working knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS - Hands-on familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems - Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and common attack vectors - Knowledge of secure coding practices, encryption, hashing, and data protection mechanisms - Ability to analyse problems, troubleshoot complex issues, and develop solutions - Clear written and verbal communication for explaining technical findings Your strengths: - Programming or scripting ability in Python, Bash, JavaScript, or equivalent languages - Experience with security tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, Wireshark, or comparable platforms - Familiarity with cloud security principles and deployment on AWS, Azure, or GCP - Knowledge of SIEM systems, security monitoring, and incident response workflows - Collaborative mindset and comfort working alongside cross-functional technical teams
