About the role: - Backend software engineer position at Kiwi, with two levels available: SDE 1 for candidates with 1–4 years of professional backend experience, or SDE 2 for those with 4+ years - Primary focus on Java development with preference for Java 17 or later versions What you'll work on: - Building and maintaining REST APIs with robust design principles - Database optimization using PostgreSQL or MySQL, including query tuning, index creation, and resolving N+1 query problems - Caching layer management with Redis or Memcached for performance improvement - Version control workflows using Git and containerization with Docker What we're looking for: - Solid grasp of data structures and algorithms with ability to analyze time and space complexity trade-offs - Hands-on experience implementing Spring Boot and Spring MVC frameworks - Understanding of dependency injection patterns and how to apply them effectively - Competence in object-oriented programming principles and concurrency fundamentals - Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting, HTTP protocols, and JSON data formats - Capability to think through system design problems and propose scalable solutions - Excellent written communication for documentation, code reviews, and team collaboration - Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools including Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot
