Software Engineer

About this role

What you'll work on: - Build and maintain software for large-scale, complex systems where reliability and performance are critical - Debug, analyse and resolve technical issues escalated from customer deployments - Design diagnostic and test code to strengthen system reliability and ease of support - Investigate root causes of system failures and implement lasting fixes - Create development tools and utilities that improve team productivity and speed up the debug cycle - Assess how systems scale under load and whether different components can work together seamlessly - Work with real-time and embedded operating systems including Linux, VxWorks and QNX - Develop software that communicates across physical interfaces such as Serial, Ethernet, 1553, CAN, NMEA and Modbus What we're looking for: - Strong grasp of how operating systems work at the kernel level - Hands-on experience writing multi-threaded and multi-process code - Solid knowledge of inter-process communication methods - Familiarity with networking fundamentals including IP protocols, VLANs and Ethernet switching - Track record building distributed systems where components talk to each other reliably - Proven ability to find bugs quickly by breaking down complex problems - Skill in integrating different software modules into a working whole - Comfort with Linux as a development environment and Jira for tracking work - Strong written and spoken communication skills to explain technical issues to colleagues and customers - Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities without losing focus
