Backend Development Intern

About this role

About the role: - You'll support the engineering team in building and refining server-side applications written in Java, working through the full development cycle from writing code through testing to maintenance. - You'll work with Spring Boot to help design, build, and connect REST APIs that other parts of the system rely on. - Database work will fall to you as well—writing SQL queries to retrieve, update, and store the application's data, and ensuring information flows correctly through the system. - When bugs appear or features break, you'll investigate root causes, trace through the code, and contribute to getting things working again. What you'll work on: - Putting Core Java concepts and object-oriented design principles into practice as you write real production code. - Following established coding standards and best practices that keep the codebase clean and maintainable. - Handling database operations and SQL—everything from simple SELECT statements to more complex queries that power key features. - Collaborating with senior developers who'll review your work and help you grow. What we're looking for: - A solid grasp of Java fundamentals and how to write code in an object-oriented style. - Basic familiarity with Spring Boot and REST API concepts. - Comfort reading and writing SQL queries against relational databases. - A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on debugging tasks that stretch your skills.
