About the role: - Periskope is hiring an AI Engineer for a remote position in India. - This is a hands-on individual-contributor role focused on building the company's AI-native product and engineering harness. - The position combines software engineering, cloud infrastructure and modern AI application development. - Periskope is a WhatsApp operations platform used by 5,000+ businesses across 50+ countries. - Its product combines shared inboxes, workflows, integrations, automation and AI agents for sales, support and operations. What you'll work on: - Build and improve Periskope's AI engineering harness and core AI capabilities. - Develop production-grade AI features on top of foundation models. - Build AI agents, tools, workflows and integrations that can take meaningful actions. - Create reliable infrastructure for AI workloads across cloud services. - Experiment with new AI models, frameworks, tools and development workflows. - Turn prototypes into scalable and maintainable production systems. - Improve AI reliability using evaluation, observability, logging, guardrails and testing. - Integrate AI capabilities with APIs, databases, internal systems and external tools. - Own engineering problems from architecture and implementation through deployment. - Work closely with the founding team on high-impact product and engineering problems. What we're looking for: - Candidates should have 2–4 years of software engineering experience. - Applicants should currently be working at a product-based startup or scale-up. - Strong software-engineering fundamentals and an AI-native mindset are required. - Proven experience building and shipping products or features using AI or LLMs is expected. - Candidates should have strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud-native development. - Experience with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, tool calling, MCP or similar AI application patterns is relevant. - Strong coding ability in one or more modern programming languages is required. - Applicants should be comfortable working as a hands-on IC in a small engineering team. - Strong proof of work such as shipped AI projects, GitHub repositories, products or demos is expected. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills are required, along with comfort operating in an ambiguous and fast-moving startup environment.
