Software Backend Intern

About this role

About the role: - Develop and maintain backend services using modern frameworks and programming languages - Write clean, maintainable code that follows established patterns and team conventions - Build and optimize database queries and manage relational data structures - Design and implement RESTful APIs that handle client requests effectively - Collaborate with the engineering team to review code, receive feedback, and ship features - Troubleshoot backend issues and contribute to system reliability What we're looking for: - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with solid logical reasoning - Hands-on experience writing backend code in Python, Java, Node.js, or similar languages - Practical knowledge of FastAPI and Python, or equivalent frameworks - Comfort with SQL and relational databases (SELECT, JOIN, INSERT, UPDATE, WHERE clauses) - Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and how request-response cycles work - Ability to read and work with existing codebases while maintaining code style - Git and GitHub proficiency: branches, commits, and pull requests - Written communication skills for documentation and team discussions - Genuine curiosity and openness to learning, feedback, and teamwork Nice to have: - Previous backend projects built with FastAPI, Flask, Java, Node.js, or other frameworks - Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar relational database systems - Basic knowledge of authentication, authorization, and integrating third-party APIs - Experience writing unit tests or integration tests - Familiarity with AWS services like S3, EC2, or backend deployment pipelines - Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor and Claude - A GitHub profile showcasing backend development work - Interest in fintech, lending platforms, vehicle financing, or financial technology sectors
