About the role: - Join Snowflake as an intern working on core platform engineering and systems-level challenges - Contribute to building cloud infrastructure that powers data processing and warehousing at scale - Gain hands-on experience with distributed systems, database technologies, and large-scale data handling - Work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment on meaningful projects What you'll work on: - Systems programming and optimization across the Snowflake platform - Database design and implementation challenges in a cloud-native environment - Data processing pipelines and architectural improvements - Distributed systems problems including concurrency, scalability, and fault tolerance - Integration with cloud computing platforms and services What we're looking for: - Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited university or college - Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (3rd year or later), Master's degree, or PhD - Major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline - Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures - Strong grasp of operating systems fundamentals - Proficiency in C++ or Java - Knowledge of systems programming concepts such as multi-threading and concurrency - Ability to write clearly and communicate fluently in English, both in writing and conversation - Demonstrated capacity to work productively in teams and approach problems with creative thinking Nice to have: - Academic background or knowledge in database systems, distributed systems, cloud platforms, or compiler design - Prior involvement in big data engineering, data processing systems, or geospatial computing - Open-source contributions, academic research experience, or published work in databases or distributed systems Good to know: - Internship length ranges from 4 months minimum to 12 months maximum, with 6 months recommended - Start date is flexible, with target onboarding from February 2027 onward - Visa sponsorship is available for international candidates
