About the role: - Build and maintain backend systems using Python across a range of web applications and services - Design and implement REST APIs to support frontend and third-party integrations - Write and execute tests to ensure code quality and catch regressions early - Collaborate with the team through code reviews and contribute to shared standards What we're looking for: - 1–5 years of hands-on experience developing backend software with Python - Solid grasp of relational databases, PostgreSQL and SQL, including how transactions work - Familiarity with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django - Knowledge of ORMs, particularly SQLAlchemy, and how to use them effectively - Comfort reading existing codebases and implementing features from written specifications - Experience with version control using Git and participation in code-review processes - A track record of writing automated tests as part of your development practice Desirable: - Experience with typed Python and runtime schema validation - Understanding of asynchronous Python and async/await patterns - Exposure to message queues or scheduled job systems
